Nothing is more relaxing on a summer afternoon than having to sit comfortably under a shade with a cup of cold refreshment at hand. You may go for a pricey iced coffee, syrupy ice cream or haluhalo, and forget all about unwanted calories. But why indulge sinfully when you can eat healthy with frozen yogurt?
I just found the right place to satisfy my sweet tooth without the guilt – at Yoh-gurt Froz! “Yoh-gurt” is simply how you pronounce “yogurt”, and froz is a shortcut for frozen. So what did we get? FROZEN YOGURT!
Munching a bowl of frozen yogurt has never been sweeter in Yoh-gurt Froz stores, where yogurt is served in two different ways—original and classic. Yoh-gurt Froz Original is yogurt blended with your choice of fresh fruits and produces a non-tangy taste. It is non-fat and sugar-free but has a natural sweet tang that makes it a delectable treat. Some of the yummy choices are strawberry, blueberry, banana, pineapple, mango, papaya, watermelon, melon, kiwi, lychee, and jackfruit.
Alternatively, Classic Fro-yo is yogurt enjoyed with a wide selection of top-ins from fruits to cereals, marshmallows, chocolates, candy sprinkles, and nuts. It was only introduced last year when Yoh-gurt Froz owners noticed that people actually like the sour flavor of yogurt. The yogurt base comes unflavored, but its unique sweet and sour zest is such a delight to the palate. I took pleasure in trying my Classic Fro-yo with strawberries, bananas and mangoes, but everything from the menu, including the Blendz (yogurt smoothies) and the Ala Mode (yogurt-topped pastry), is strictly worth a try!
Did you know that everyone, starting from age zero to the highest possible count, can eat yogurt? Even a few months old baby can have it. And unlike milk, it is OK for those suffering from lactose intolerance, and unlike ice cream, it is highly recommended to diabetic patients.
Want to know how Yoh-gurt Froz came about? The Gatchalian Family of Glacier Bay Diversified Ventures made the heavenly concept of “eating dessert right” all possible. “This is our original brand. [We started the business] since we are really yogurt-eaters. When some members of the family got sick, we became conscious with our health. It made us [want] to eat healthy food,” shares Yoh-gurt Froz General Manager Mary Jane Gatchalian.
Jane also speaks about the intensifying competition among yogurt stores, “We welcome the competition, because I’m sure we are helping each other. Maganda nga ‘yung may competitors. [It keeps me aware] that I have to improve our brand. It’s also for the customers to have a list of choices. We already have our followings. Sila, meron din. Kanya-kanyang taste naman ‘yan eh. I’m just proud that we are the first [in this kind of business] and we’re still here.”
