Now that the heat of summer sun sets up to stroke our skin, ice-cold food and beverages start to pop out from one corner to another. Halu-halo, ice buko, maiz con hielo, saging con hielo and ice candy are the classic Pinoy summer food, but the science of innovation never sleeps even in the gastronomic industry.
New, exciting and refreshing snacks are being introduced in the market from time to time, and sampling all these treats sure spells fun. So, if you are a kid (even just at heart) craving for a bowl of nutritious and delightful alternative, Cerealicious—the first and only cereal café in the Philippines—is the place to go to!
Cerealicious was established in 2005 by a group of friends. After a year of researches and surveys, the first store was opened inside University of Santo Tomas (UST) campus. “None of us is a UST Alumnus, but we are grateful to UST. At that time, they were building the Parking Complex, and we were lucky to secure a place there,” explains Tanya Tabucal, Supply Chain Manager of Cerealicious. Now, they have about twenty-five branches nationwide including one in Cebu, one in Boracay and one in Davao.
As it introduced a new concept in the Philippines, Cerealicious aims to bring happiness one bowl at a time. “When they see the place, it’s very bright and colorful. It’s a candy shop of all sorts. There is something for everyone, health-conscious or not,” as Tanya puts it. The group behind Cerealicious is also having lots of fun handling the business, especially during taste testing and naming of the new Blockbuster items which are actually more like playing than working. And of course, the fun they get is the fun they share to their customers. “We try to listen to what they need, and we are constantly evolving to improve our products and services.”
Cerealicious has a growing line of cereal products from Blockbusters (concoctions of cereals, candies, chocolates, fruits, ice creams, milkshakes and syrups named after Hollywood movies) to Oatmilk (oatmeal), Smoochies (smoothies), and Ice Cream Liners which could just be your new summer favorites! First-timers who are having a hard time at the menu board may consider the best-sellers—Nutting Hill (Koko Krunch, marshmallows, chocolate kisses, nuts), Oreo and Juliet (corn flakes, Oreo, wafer stick) and Jumango (corn flakes, mangoes, honey crumble). Or if you are the uncompromising type, go for the Create-Your-Own.
Cerealicious will never get tired to work on the improvisation of its menu. So, watch out for new lines of blockbuster every quarter. Also, crepes and pancakes are soon to be added to the list of delicious cereal-based desserts. What’s more, it has considered providing healthy options for its lactose intolerant and diabetic consumers, which remarkably extends the happiness to everyone.
