It could be the fun, the sense of adventure, or the mere idea of being away from the hustle and bustle of city life that makes one desire to experience the rugged outdoors. Yet, to most average city dwellers who know little of the mountain life, outdoor recreation seems like a heavy responsibility. But thanks to the Galang couple who founded Kampo Trexo; families, friends and companies can now enjoy camping, trekking and hiking with just the right amount of rural environment – a friendly climate exuding cool breeze and gentle heat.
Kampo Trexo (Treks and Expeditions Outfitters, Incorporated) is a camping ground situated in the mountains of Tagaytay, in Barangay Palumlum, Alfonso, Cavite. Gideon Galang’s parents and Boboy Francisco who belong to the pioneers of mountaineering and backpacking in the Philippines established the camp with the objective to introduce and promote camping in the country, and at the same time develop among Filipinos the respect and concern for the environment. Gideon, who manages Trexo’s operations, is also a mountaineer himself while some of the officers and facilitators are recognized outdoor recreation educators and trainers.
Kampo Trexo offers three types of services: Youth Adventure, Camp Venue and Company Team Building.
Youth Adventure prepares the young scouts for the “real thing.” The activities are aimed at inculcating among the youth the values of responsibility, creativity, teamwork, resourcefulness and independence. The challenges involved in each activity aspire to develop the youth’s self-confidence, leadership and team spirit.
As a camp venue, Kampo Trexo offers to make every family’s vacation meaningful and memorable. Kids can experience the adventure of the great outdoors sans the risk of the actual mountaineering while parents can revive their vibrant and energetic attitude.
Company Team Building provides a program that boosts a sense of camaraderie and team spirit among the employees. It gives an experience that helps them cope with stress brought about by various factors in the work environment. The activities include river trekking, wall climbing, rappelling, obstacle course, and bonfire.
Meanwhile, for people who want a “real escape,” Trexo Tours offers an exciting travel adventure through its Getaways and Trailblazer tour packages. Hit the beach and explore the water world; trek the Philippine mountains and view the world from the top; or go on expedition tours.
Trexo’s other services include Edu-Adventures which give a new meaning to educational tours and field trips; Outdoor Events Management for sports program, and eco-tourism consultancy for both public and private entities. |
