Hair is our crowning glory for several reasons. One, like our face, it’s the first thing others see. Second, how you keep it says a lot about yourself (neat = poised and proper, and sabog = you-fill-in-the-blanks). Think of hair as another accessory…something to make or break your entire ensemble. Giving it the right look and keeping it healthy, more importantly, are steps towards looking your very best.
Here are some basic hair care tips for soft, shiny, healthy hair from root to tip:
Before shampooing, brush your hair. This will detangle hair and will remove dirt.
Try using coldwater when washing hair (especially during the last rinse). Cold water closes the hair cuticle. (A few dashes of vinegar in the last rinse are known to add shine to hair.)
Use wide-toothed combs on wet hair and hair brushes (boar bristle brushes are ideal) for dry hair.
Have a healthy diet. Hair needs its vitamins and minerals too. Eat plenty of salmon, spinach, beans, nuts, whole grains, and oysters for well-nourished hair.
Deep condition hair once every two weeks. Hair masques are readily available in the beauty sections of department stores, supermarkets, and drugstores. Homemade recipes are also available online. (Usual ingredients would be eggs, olive oil, avocado, and other natural products.)
Have you hair trimmed every six weeks to maintain healthy ends.
But of course there’s the salon too for some much needed hair pampering. You can avail of hot oil, hair relax, rebond and other therapeutic hair treatments for any length of hair. To further enhance your crowning glory, there are highlights, wax, cellophane and more that you can avail. Here’s the list of Salons.
Now you know the things and places to consider when giving your hair some TLC. Best of luck to your Locks!
