Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA) grand winner Yeng Constantino has both luck and bad luck on her side.
“
After bagging the grand title of the PDA first season, Yeng Constantino is set to release her sophomore album under Star Records. Yeng Constantino is said to be luckier compared to her other academy-mates who don't get the same star power exposure like an album, a regular TV stint and big-time concert productions. Apart from the fame, she's thankful for the blessings not only for herself but for her family, whom she loves so much.
"Sobrang natupad po talaga ang lahat ng pangarap ko. Hindi lang ng pangarap ko kungdi pati na rin ng pamilya ko. Kasi nga natulungan kaming magka-bahay saka sa pag-aaral ng kapatid ko." says Yeng.
But with fame and fortune come intrigues. And Yeng Constantino is not spared. According to our showbiz tipster, Yeng has not settled a debt of almost one million pesos from her former manager. When we caught up with her during the Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition and Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 press conference, we asked her about this rumor.
Yeng denied the debt and even clarified the issue with his dad, who controls her finances. She told us that if that were the case, her father would have told her. But as far as she knows, she does not owe anyone anything.
She revealed that she gets pocket money from minor TV guestings like Boy and Kris, ASAP or Wowowee. She has not bought anything luxurious or expensive for herself, except for a guitar that amounted to fifty thousand pesos.
NOT AN EASY ROAD
Yeng was supposed to play a part in the recently-concluded Pangarap Na Bituin but management opted to give it to Maja Salvador. Yeng briefly commented and said she had no idea that there was an issue of "agawan" with regards to the role. She admitted though that when she heard whispers of her getting the role, she got excited but did not expect to get it. She said that the right time will come for her in the field of acting. For now, she intends to focus on making good music.
Another intrigue Yeng confronts is her being compared to pop star Sarah Geronimo. With hit songs like "Hawak Kamay" and "Time In", people could not help but compare her to the champion singer. Our showbiz tipster told us that Sarah and Yeng’s fans would even go head to head with one another exchanging not-so friendly remarks about their idols. Yeng humbly stepped back and felt a little embarrassed being compared to someone like Sarah. She believes that she still has a long way to go and is very much determined to go that far.
Yeng also cleared up rumors about her father being a drug addict. Apparently, when Yeng was in the U.S. for a series of concerts, write-ups that her father is allegedly into drugs circulated. She clarified that her father has never been into and will never engage in illegal drugs, but admits that he has been battling against asthma.
