After thirteen long years, 80's matinee idol Gabby Concepcion returns to Manila, in a big way! Yes, and we literally mean big! After making a surprising appearance at “The Buzz” last Sunday, Gabby is making headlines everywhere – on television, radio, magazines, and the web!
Gabby's unexpected return was courtesy of FLT movie producer Mommy Rose Flaminiano, who courted Gabby for the past six months. Gabby was quoted to have said that "this is the best time for me to go back!" He was slated to do a movie with GMA Films opposite Jolina Magdangal, but he suddenly turned down the offer. According to reports, Gabby didn't like the material and wanted a project with bigger magnitude for his comeback. Then, he accepted the ABS-CBN offer.
According to Mommy Rose, in a recent chit-chat with the reporters: The ABS-CBN package was an offer Gabby and manager Mommy Rose could not refuse - a two-year contract including an episode in Maaalala Mo Kaya (MMK), two teleseryes and a two-picture contract with Star Cinema.
Now that the GMA-movie with Jolina entitled “I.T.A.L.Y. (I Trust And Love You)” will no longer push through, Gabby is set to do a movie opposite big star Claudine Barretto for Star Cinema. Mommy Rose said, the project is still untitled but will soon be underway. Gabby will start shooting his MMK episode on April 20.
However, rumors about a possible project with ex-wife Sharon Cuneta and daughter KC Concepcion are getting more buzz. It seems like the old fans and the new ones (many of whom are KC fans), want a movie with all three stars in it. But we have not heard a word yet from Sharon's camp. One thing is for sure though: Gabby will do a movie with his daughter KC Concepcion.
