Key elements to a smashing event will always be good food, overflowing booze, a hip crowd and of course, great music to serenade the night away. Unless you’re throwing a party for just a handful of guests, an mp3 player on shuffle mode and on speakers may not do the event better justice. A good host and a discriminating guest will then always appreciate a professional sound and lights service provider. Taking note of a letter and a number combined will save you tons of stress on your next event. Try S2.
“S2 started in 1988 at Casimiro Village Las Piñas City,” says Michelle Abuel, Marketing Manager of S2 Sound Reinforcement. “It was once a small family business that my in-laws put up. S2 means Situation Two…it was taken from the name of the underground recording company of one of the New Wave band Gene Loves Jezebel albums. When my husband Arfil (owner and proprietor) and I got married in 1993, it then became our bread and butter. And when our family started to grow, he decided to register the name S2 Sound Reinforcement to make everything official.”
Expertise is quintessentially the best attribute of S2. Michelle says, “Just this year, my husband worked for almost six months as a sound technician in several ships of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Liners. There he learned to operate digital boards and hi-tech systems. Since he was gone for a while, I diligently learned some of the technicalities behind the business: employing different marketing strategies, interacting with clients, and most specially handling our personnel and staff… it’s a continuous learning process. We only want to provide the best for our clients.”
Aside from Sounds and Lights rental, S2 also has a band rehearsal studio located in their residential office. “As much as possible, we make sure to accommodate the clients with ‘all’ their requirements. Our clients are not just companies, schools or organizations, but also some of the big named sound system companies trust our capacity to handle big events. Some people would say, 'S2? kilala ba yan?'….Well, we're just a low profile company but after doing business with a client, they will not forget S2 from then on.”
So for those planning on an event, Michelle shares some important notes to keep in mind: 1) Do research on at least three suppliers to canvass which one suits your budget and other needs. 2) Make plans ahead of time. Write down all your needs and prioritize your listings. 3) Make sure to have proper agreements or contracts from every supplier and at least find time to meet them in person. It is good doing business when you personally know and see the person you're dealing with.
Party on!
