Couple Couture
By Romina Tobias

Couples everywhere can now profess their undying love for each other while making a declaration to the world through fashion statements –unspoken but absolutely loud and clear for everyone to hear, or to read to be more exact.

These cute Couple T-shirts are being sold in an online shop called GLAMZONE. They are not the typical “matchy-matchy” shirts that are exactly the same but are only sized differently for his and hers. GLAMZONE’S tees have witty concepts that allow the couple to complement each other. They come in eight designs, each with unique captions and graphics. GLAMZONE’S Kathleen shares, “Among the eight designs, the ‘born to love,’ ‘key to unlock my heart,’ and ‘magnet’ are our best-sellers. There are many reasons why our customers love these three, some of which are the following: cute, makulit, not toocheesy, and colorful.” Other designs include: “Shoot My Heart,” “Will You Marry Me,” “So Cute,” and “LOVE.”

What adds to the immense popularity of such tees is the packaging –perfect for gift giving this Valentine Season. Couple T-shirts come in spiffy little plastic containers with a wooden replica of the t-shirt design.

Kathleen states, “We actually have excellent feedback from our customers. One for example, just loves the designs and finds the wooden gift from the packaging really cute. As for another lady client, she and her boyfriend have already worn the tees in public and she thinks that the couples t-shirt look so adorable when worn. Most of them have purchased a pair to surprise their loved-ones for Valentine’s Day.”

Glam Zone was put up in May of last year. The GLAM team comprises of Grace Ordonez, 21, student of College of St. Benilde-Philippine School of Interior Design (CSB-PSID) with a course in Interior Design, Kathleen Choy, 21, 2006 graduate of De La Salle University (DLSU) with a course in Business Management majoring in Entrepreneurship and Kimberly Choy, 20, 2008 graduate of DLSU with a course in Management of Financial Institutes. Inspired by a common love for fashion and the purpose of sharing fabulous finds with others, these young entrepreneurs have been outsourcing trinkets and what not for their market. According to Kathleen, “At first, we started by selling fashion accessories from necklaces to bracelets, bangles to earrings and a lot more, which are of good quality and at the same time easy on the pocket. Eventually, we added more product lines like dresses, t-shirts, and gadgets to cater to a wider range of clientele.”

So remember, it is never a “fashion don’t” to express one’s love for another, especially with screaming colors and popping graphics. It’s not a big deal since you can always go for the “you-and-me-against-the-world” tactic. And besides, being each other’s accessory just might do the trick in bringing a little laughter, a little spice, and some youth to what may seem to be just an ordinary relationship. So go for it, hold your partner’s hand and brave the streets. We all could use a little love inspiration here and there.
