The Rustan’s Essenses Foundation in collaboration with I Can Serve Foundation conducted a series of workshops for breast cancer survivors with the aim to uplift their spirits through beauty enhancement. The series of workshops took place on August 13, September 9, and November 22, 2007 at Rustan’s Tea Bar in Makati, and on September 17, 2007 at Rustan’s Ayala in Cebu.
Dubbed as LOOK GOOD FEEL GOOD, the workshop is a continuing effort of Rustan’s Essenses Foundation that started in 2005. It aims to pamper the cancer survivors with beauty care, making them feel good inside and look good outside. These women from ages 30 to 70 have undergone cancer treatments at the Philippine General Hospital, East Avenue Medical Center and other hospitals. Most of them come from low-income brackets and can hardly afford the required treatment.
During the event, the cancer survivors were provided with beauty services such as a beauty make-over. They were also given loot bags containing beauty products. The workshop is not only about vanity. Isa Lorenzo, Essenses Foundation Trustee and Chairperson on Health & Well–Being said, “It’s the same positive vibe you get when you put on a nice outfit. The simplicity of the workshop is what makes it profound and life-changing. It’s like giving someone a hug – like an instant mood lifter.”
Other projects undertaken by the Essenses Foundation last year were: (1) The GURONG KAAKBAY CONFERENCE, on October 26, 2007 held at the Educational and Science Building, Ateneo University, Quezon City; (2) The BREAST HUG PROJECT, which was launched on October 15, 2007 at the City of Muntinlupa Quadrangle; and (3) CHRISTMAS AT CRIBS (Create Responsive Infants By Sharing) on December 3, 2007 at CRIBS Social Hall, Marikina City.
