With my various stints as a full-time employee and my current freelance status, I’ve sat and worked in quite a few offices already. Like curious little Goldilocks, I’d find some chairs too big, too hard, some too wobbly, some even too comfortable that I’d rather sleep. Of course, color, structure, and design are of essence too. I love visiting ad agencies, and other creative-oriented industries…It’s like entering playgrounds where being dull is a crime. I remember entering the marketing department of a broadcasting company once and wow, every cubicle had its own color. Partitions were like walls of a room, customized for each hardworking employee whose creative juices are of prime investment. Which should always be the case, right?

Sometime I also wonder how employees can work in such dreary work places. I’ve been to offices that look like hospital wards (no color at all!), partitions are small, chairs and tables are too uniformed and are arranged so stiffly, it’s as if an army of robots are sitting in some sort of hellish classroom. How could they survive a 9-5 routine?
So note to the big bosses, there are little steps that you can take to enliven the work atmosphere. One is to pimp your workstations! Perhaps take a pick from Metro Meter’s catalogue of exceptional office furniture to spruce up those large spaces. Nilo D. Dichoson, JR, Design & Account Manager says, “Metro Meter is known for unique partitions, chairs, tables, filing cabinets, and blinds –all which are our best sellers. We offer good quality at competitive prices, and with reasonable lead time.”
I do hope that with this little suggestion, offices around the metro will have their makeovers, perhaps just one little cubicle at a time. It will pay off eventually. Happy, satisfied and inspired employees, equals productive work!
