Island: Bicol Featured Hotspot: Mayon Volcano

Reaching over 2,460 meters, the Mayon Volcano is a picture of regal beauty. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful volcanoes in the world due to its symmetrical cone shape. Though seemingly tranquil, Mayon is the most active volcano in the country.

Tip for Travelers: Take a hike but don't go exploring on your own. Find a tour guide to take you through its tricky path.

How to Get There: There are two ways to get to Mayon Volcano. From Manila, board a bus or plane bound for Legaspi City, Albay. Traveling by land will take you around 10 to 13 hours while you're there in 40 minutes if you decide to travel by air. Once you get to Legaspi City, catch a jeepney ride to Tobaco, Albay and then arrange for transportation to take you to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) and Mayon rest house.
