Our Lady of Consolation Parish - Quezon City

The creation of the Parish of Our Lady Consolation at Mira-Nila Homes, Tandang Sora Avenue, Quezon City was thought of at the time
when the construction of the seminary, the Recoletos Formation Center, was still being negotiated with the Cardinal of Manila.
His Eminence Jaime Cardinal Sin was already insinuating to the Augustinian Recollect superiors his willingness to create
a parish the moment they construct a church.

Together with the decree of the establishment of the seminary, there was also the faculty to open a semi-public oratory for the people.
Thus, the seminary chapel became a place for Sunday workshop for the people in the vicinity. With this, they did not have to go anymore
to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish to which they belonged.

Inspired by the clamor for a Catholic Church in the area and with the encouragement and moral support of the Cardinal himself,
the Augustinian Recollects commenced the construction of one within the seminary compound. It was under the supervision
and financial assistance of the Order of Augustinian Recollects

On January 10, 1987, the Parish of Our Lady of Consolation was created as separate from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Project 6. The decree
of establishment was officially proclaimed by His Eminence Jaime cardinal Sin on February 1, 1987. This date also marked the
installation of the first Parish priest Father Samson S. Silloriquez, OAR. The seminary chapel was the venue for this very important
event and for the succeeding parochial activities until the construction of the church was completed.

On the eve of the 4th centenary foundation of the Augustinian Recollection, exactly two years of the inauguration of the seminary,
on December 5, 1987, the same Cardinal solemnly dedicated the Parish Church of Our Lady Consolation. Various ecclesiastical
and civil dignitaries attended to it. The representation of the Order was headed by Rev. Fr. Jose Antonio Calvo, Prior Provincial. From then on,
the newly constructed church became the center of the religious worship and activities for the parish.

The church has the capacity of one thousand persons. There are two seminaries within its area, Recollect Formation Center
and Claret theologate Seminary. There is also the Central Office of the Iglesia ni Cristo.
